Luca Di Pierno

I am a robotics PhD researcher at the Control of Networked Systems Group at the University of Klagenfurt, advised by Professor Stephan Weiss — a contributor to the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter. My research focuses on autonomy for aerial and space robots: multi-agent systems, real-time perception, and collaborative decision-making in GPS-denied environments.

Before my PhD, I studied Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zurich and spent time as a visiting researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, working on autonomous systems for space exploration.

I also lead a student team competing in international robotics challenges, building autonomous multi-agent systems for search-and-rescue in GPS-denied indoor environments — see the Sapience project.
