Pushing Autonomy Beyond Competitions
Within SPRIND – Fully Autonomous Flights 2.0, funded by the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation (SPRIN-D), our research group — Control of Networked Systems at the University of Klagenfurt — is contributing to the development of fully autonomous aerial platforms for complex, real-world missions.
The project builds directly on the autonomy architecture, sensor fusion, and field experience developed through the Sapience competition campaigns: GPS-denied navigation, onboard real-time perception, and robust decision-making without a communication lifeline — now scaled toward missions where full autonomy is not a competition goal but an operational requirement.
